Help needed!

I have a school poject, and I need to know what's the meaning of the songs "If today was your last day" and "gotta somebody to be" and why they wrote it.
I hope somebody can help me :)

    If today was your last day to me is about can you die happy. if you were shot and slowly dying could you die knowing you have achieved what you want.

    Gotta be somebody means that everyone should ahve someone who loves them and cares for them.
