There's always a time in everyone's life when they reflect on things that they've done in the past, people they knew, and things that shaped them as an individual.
Photograph is worded in a way that MAKES us think about these things.
I listen to it and I see my friends from middle-school, I see events or memories with friends and family within the past few years. I laugh to myself and remember all these things with a giant grin on my face. As a writer, finding the words to try and explain a certain emotional attechment to any kind of memory, is hard.
Nickelback did a good job though, in putting the right emotions into the song, as well as in painting a picture of their OWN memories.
This is a song that says, I know how you feel, and I feel like that too sometimes.
It's a comforting song, and it brings back only the best of memories that I have of my past, which is ultimately what people want right?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of the tear-jerker songs that sort of make you think about things that hurt, and try to make you feel some closure or security in the fact that you're not alone. But a good pick-me-up song, that makes you happy BECAUSE you're thinking about your past is just as good, if not better.
I like thinking about my past and being happy. It's nice to think that any pain you went through, was somewhat balanced with those good memories.
Balance is the key to life in my opinion, and I find it cool that - and members of Nickelback shouldn't take offence to this - people living luxuriously, having all the things they need and more that they want... can see this as well. I always thought that being a celebrity would cloud the average person's mind, which I'm sure in a lot of cases it would, but it's cool to see that the members of Nickelback are still just like us...
They think like us and have felt the same kinds of pain.
But, I'm rambling, I just like the song haha. Thank you Nickelback!
