Trying Not To Love You
Many things in life make me think that there's just too much hate, disapointment, shame... there's too much of it in the world, which in turn creates cynics like me.
But, there is that one thing that everyone has experienced or will experience in their lives, that one thing that could get you through any situation, that could make you get up after being brutally shoved to the ground.
Love has many meanings, and comes in many forms, and believe me when I say I'm one of those people who watches romantic movie and scoffs at the cheesy lines those perfect, happily-ever-after couples have in them... But, there is love that is stereotyped in movies and books, and then there's love in real life.
They are NOT the same thing, not in the slightest. In movies, books, love is predictable... you can sort of see it materialize as well as fade or get stronger. You can see these things, and actually see it; from a third person's perspective.
In real life (scoff) you have no such option. Love... it sneaks up on you, and it's unbelievably easy to mistake for loathing. You see these fenominal love stories or hear of them in books and you never think that that'll be you, and you're right. In real life you don't look at people from outside the situation, the same way that you do when you're involved with them. And the line between those two is a very thin one... Nobody realizes that they have more than what they've seen in fictional cinema's and written compositions, that is until it's gone.
You can never physically see a relationship building, you have to keep reminding yourself and the other person of where you're at, and what you want, and you have to work reeally hard to keep the balance. Love is fickle, breakable, and easy to lose. But it is equally as giving, durable, and effortless to acquire. ?
My boyfriend told me the other day that, he wishes so many quotes about love hadn't been lied about and used as universally as they are nowadays, so that when he felt like saying one of them, it might have more meaning. I had to stop and think about that... there are soooo many people who fake affection to get what they want from someone... sincere words are becoming harder and harder to find in everyday life...
It's really sad.
